City of Empuriabrava
Empuriabrava, located about 40 km from the border between France and Spain, is one of the largest residential marinas in the world with over 30 km of canals.
It is located on the Costa Brava in the bay of Roses (in Castilian, Rosas), 15 km from Figueras (in Castilian and Figueres, the official name in Catalan), 60 km from Girona-Costa Brava airport, and 120 km from Barcelona), in the municipality of Castelló d'Empúries.
Empuriabrava has well earned its nickname of Catalan Venice, as it is the largest residential marina in Europe, with more than thirty kilometres of canals. The main reason for visiting Empuriabrava is to take a stroll, both by boat and on the water.
Empuriabrava is a very popular tourist destination and is only 4 km from the town of Castello d'Empuries. It is a tourist complex with many holiday rentals, the residential area being built along a navigable canal and close to some of the most beautiful golden sandy beaches of the Costa Brava.
Empuriabrava is one of the most important tourist destinations in northern Catalonia, with one of the largest marinas in the world. Girona airport is approximately 40 minutes away by car.
